September Fiesta Chilena

September 18th is Chilean Independence Day Commemoration In addition to introducing San Francisco to Chile’s unique blend of cuisine, Chile Lindo is active in sponsoring and promoting numerous Chilean cultural events. In San Francisco’s healthy “immigrant economy” it is evident that food is at the heart of a culture thus it makes sense to bridge business to cultural expressions. Chile Lindo proposes a new form of community revitalization, where our traditions are not swept away, but rather, they are strengthen and respected by helping the backbone of our community, the small businesses. The annual production of “Fiesta Chilena” (as this event has come to be known) offers the opportunity for the Chilean business and artistic community, to come together in celebration of Chilean culture.”Fiesta Chilena”  looks to enhance the visibility of Chileans within the San Francisco Bay Area, and the wider California marketplace. Chile Lindo seeks to revitalize the Mission District, not by changing its diverse cultural makeup but rather by highlighting its traditions and strengthening what it already has to offer. I say, we need to strengthen our small businesses by promoting the cultures that makes this neighborhood, the Mission District, unique. A community rich in cultural activity gains self-respect and thus it empowers itself to prosper.
