September 18 is the national independence day in Chile and Paula Tejeda was featured on Chilean newspaper “La Segunda” the past Saturday 8.
“Paula has an intense relationship with Chile. Her parents were Chileans and in the 50’s they emigrated to the States. Whether she was born in New York, she always has felt Chilean and dedicated to show her culture and food in San Francisco, California. Paula founded “Chile Lindo”, a restaurant where she prepares organic Empanadas with recipes learned from her family. A frequent place for Chileans living in the Bay.
Each September 18, she celebrates with cueca, and empanadas, as well as Torta de Mil Hojas and Chilean wine. “It’s overwhelming what happens because it comes chilean tourists or americans-chileans living there”.
Nowadays, there is a major interest of chileans living in SF and the next cities to create a community. There are several groups organizing activities this dieciocho to highlight national culture and media, like La Nueva Gaceta Chilena.
